Some time ago I was involved with a study of Fisk Maps and Mississippi River around the St. Louis, MO area. This map was put together using GIS systems, 3D modeling, studying satellite imagery, reviewing old historic records and maps, flood cycles, and geology records. This took several months to draw up, it was a blast!
The tracks give an estimated location and date/sequence of the history of the Mississippi River in this region. There was a great deal of speculation involved since the river was never truly recorded anywhere.
It's fun hanging out with other professions and drawing things for them!
